Description

Memento Mori mid seventeenth century partially gilt silver pomander, one side is a head of a maiden and the other side is a skull. Thmaidens head is representing youth and thwe other side the skull is representing age and death. The pmoande opens and on the inside the arre four compartments. The dividing wall is engraved and gilt with a tulip.
English of Duthch ca 1660. Interesting that the maidens head is gilt and the skull is “white” without gilding.
Measurents : 19.5 mm without any of the loops on top.
