Pair of early eighteenth century South American silver candlesticks
Description
Probably Peru ca 1720 pair of silver candlesticks. The candlesticks are unmarked and one is slightly taller than the other.Cuzco in Peru was the Spanish capital of South America in the eighteenth century and since the silver mines were producing in abundance locally made silver for the use of Spanish Ofiicials and their household was prolific. Probably copied from a 1660 brass candlestick in silver in the very early eighteenth century.
