Micromosaic box
Description
Circular ivory and tortoise shell snuffbox with a micromosaic plaque set in the lid. The micromosaic is ” Pliny’s doves, /the original large mosaic is from the classical Roman era and is in the Capitolian Museum in Rome.
The box is a typical “Grand Tour” souvenir from ca 1820.
Measurements : 85 mm in diameter
Height of the box is 22 mm
