Eighteenth century Russian nielloed silver box

Description

Eighteenth century Russian fire gilt silver snuffbox with engraved and nielloed decoration. As typical in good quality and eighteenth century nielloed boxes the background is engraved away and the forefront is standing proud which is in turn is decorated with niello. Unmarked, probably Veliky Ustiug. ca 1780 with a neilloed monogram of LB on the underside.

Measurements : 9.5 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm

Heavily gilt inside.
