1637 gilt bronz and silver bowl

Description

Cast and turned bronz foot anf nodus , topped with a detachable silver bowl / unscrews /. These footed tazzas were made from the late sixteenth century all over Europe in various forms, and were normally decorated with engraved or chased scenes inside the bowl.
This rare form and plain shape suggests the piece is earlier than the engraved date suggest. Probably Italian ca 1580-1600

The bronz foot is with the original fire gilding, the silver bowl is also fire gilt inside and on the rim out side
