Sixteenth century Ottoman silver hamam bowl
Description
Ca 1550 Ottoman silver hamam bowl. Probably excavated and damaged / parts are missing / . These hamam bowls were used in the Hamam / turkish / baths as a “ladle” for water. They were possibly given as “expensive” ceremonial gifts. One can find hamam bowls in all areas of the Ottoman Empire / with local decorations, rather than Turkish ornamentation/
