Medical or apothecary silver gilt bowl

Description

Seventeenth century silver gilt bowl from a portable surgon’s or apothecary case. Used probably as a small mixing bowl was part of a large set of bowls and other silver gilt medical instruments. /Silver was known to be antibacterial hence the use in medical instruments./
The bowl is decorated with hammered “snake skin” decoration and of course is fire or mercury gilt and is on a hammered spread foot.
Marked with makers mark P V on the underside, Probably German ca 1660-80.
Measurements : diameter of the bowl without the handles :59 mm
